Anatomy ultrasound is a pregnancy imaging study that, using sound waves, examines in detail the formation of the baby's organs and structures, generally around the middle of the pregnancy.
What is it for? It allows review of the fetus's development and growth, the placenta, and the amniotic fluid, providing important information during prenatal care.
What to expect? It is painless and does not use radiation: gel is applied to the abdomen and a transducer is slid to obtain the images; it usually lasts several minutes.
