Irritable Bladder

Irritable bladder, also called overactive bladder, is a condition in which the bladder generates a sudden, hard-to-control need to urinate, even when it isn't full.

Common symptoms: urinary urgency, going to the bathroom very frequently, getting up at night to urinate, and, in some cases, involuntary leakage.

Common causes: it can be related to excessive activity of the bladder muscle and to other factors that are worth studying individually.

The urologist is the usual point of reference, and the gynecologist takes part in women when there's a pelvic floor component; the general practitioner can guide the first consultation.
