I am Dr. Roxana Galvan Suarez, Surgeon and Obstetrician with special mention from the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Autonoma de Chihuahua. My journey in medicine has been a constant evolution, marked by a crucial moment in 2018. That year, facing the growing problem of mental disorders and a rather complicated family situation, I decided to rethink my path and apply for the Specialty in Psychiatry in the Examen Nacional de Residencias Medicas. My goal was to immerse myself completely in the world of mental illnesses, to understand them, treat them, and challenge the stigma surrounding them. From my training at the Universidad Autonoma de Chihuahua to international experiences, every step has been a pillar of my growth. I am currently a graduate of the specialty in Psychiatry at the Instituto Nacional de Psiquiatria Ramon de la Fuente Muñiz in Mexico City, endorsed by the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. Throughout my training I have had the opportunity to take part in national and international congresses and contribute to medical research through publications in international scientific journals, these being modest efforts as my contribution to psychiatric medical knowledge. My professional path, in addition to the clinical side, includes academic experiences, such as participating in the Comision Interna de Igualdad de Genero of the Facultad de Medicina of UNAM during my postgraduate studies, as well as important roles such as University Counselor and President of the Society of Medical Students during undergraduate studies. This commitment, together with an honorable mention I was awarded upon graduating from the Specialization in Psychiatry, reflects my desire to serve and prepare myself as a professional and as a person, in order to fully understand the needs of my patients and loved ones. On this journey that is my life, dedicated to Psychiatry, my commitment goes beyond providing a medical consultation. Every day, together with my patients, we build bridges toward mental health and tear down barriers of stigma. Always with humility and empathy, I am here to guide, support, and remind you — remind you that recovery is possible.
