En marzo del 2012 opero de emergencia a un compañero ciclista (Canelo) que a raíz de un accidente tuvo doble hemorragia cerebral. A pesar de un pronóstico bastante pesimista de varios médicos y a casi 2 años del accidente, Canelo está recuperado en un 90% de sus funciones mentales y en un 70% en su movilidad y en franca recuperación.
